Level control in metal melting furnaces.
Level measurement of molten metal in closed or opened melting & holding furnaces.
With OndoSense radar sensors, you can measure the fill level in the metal melting furnace or holding furnace contact-free with sub-millimeter accuracy – even at metal temperatures of up to 1600 degrees Celsius. A high-precision, continuous level measurement in the melting furnace is required in particular for the recycling of scrap metal such as aluminum, steel or copper. This way, you can determine exactly when the metal has completely melted. At the beginning of the melting process, the still solid metal scrap usually forms a pile in the middle of the furnace, so that the filling level is higher here than at the edge of the furnace. As the metal is melting, the level at the edge of the furnace increases continuously. When the metal is completely melted, the level values are identical and do not change anymore. The radar measurement is possible even in closed metal melting furnaces via a special tube that is inserted into a small opening in the furnace lid. An active cooling of the level radar is usually not necessary. Dust, steam, smoke, vibrations as well as strong heat radiation do not affect the precision and reliability of the level control.
Take advantage of our radar technology for the level measurement of molten metal in melting and holding furnaces, ladle, ladle transfer cars, casting molds, launder systems as well as in the die and DC casting of slabs.
